And now it's October...

This year is really zipping by. Last week we (my Bradley and daughters Sophie and Molly and I) went to Costco. It's a fun place to go, especially if you like shopping. First up past the doors was the first of their Christmas range. We oooed and ahhhed over that and then halfway through the shop my Bradley stopped dead and observed, "Of course, it's almost Christmas." It's hard to believe. It was my most eventful trip to Costco ever. Normally we just hop on the fast road and zip to Costco in 30 or 40 minutes. Coming from Adelaide (where there are no fast roads) we are completely in love with fast roads. Even if we have to pay a toll to use them. So I thought this trip would be the same. Except our requisite fast road was a car park because of an earlier accident. It took us just over two hours to get there. It was my first such experience with the fast roads, which isn't too bad considering that we have lived here for almost three years now.

I have been sewing, although nothing too exciting. This is some Halloween bunting that I put together from a panel that I got from Spotlight. I got a few panels which I am in the process of completing. Some will be to decorate my daughter's stall at the Spooky Ooky Halloween Market and some will be available for sale at the market. She is busy making Deddy Bears and Ghoulish Girls, as well as all her cute softies, for sale at the market. So if you are in Adelaide and want some softies (or patterns for softies) you should pop along. Some of my other girls are busy making ghoulish jewellery for the market too. I am thinking that I might just be in Adelaide for the market, but I'm not sure yet. Oh well, back to the sewing.

More Bunting

Six strings of bunting finished now!
Yes, I managed to finish three more strings of bunting today, and that's about it. I am doing a cold (now that it's summer here!) and I've felt a bit sorry for myself today. Sore throat, dripping nose, and a cough. I'm hoping to feel better tomorrow though because I'm pretty sure I caught this from my Bradley. He was sick one day (even napping in the afternoon, which isn't like him) and well the next. So I hope I'm just like him! Tomorrow there will be more bunting hopefully.

December...(and a market)

It is December! Today I made a little bit of Christmas bunting. White and gold. I think it's very sweet. It is destined for Adelaide and the market my kids have a stall at next Saturday. Hopefully I will finish some more bunting for their stall too.

Picklesticks (my Jess) will have softies, upcycled books, and other gorgeous things. There will be dreamcatchers, jewelery and my bunting. And my Joe will be there with his reconditioned rotary telephones that you can actually use on current telephone lines if you are looking to get your retro on.

The market (It's called Christmas At Our Place!) is at the Charles Sturt Civic Centre, 72 Woodville Road Woodville , from 4pm till 9pm. There will be food available and entertainment as well as the market, so if you are looking for a night out next Saturday night (December 8) check it out!

Red and White Bunting

It is a very grey rainy day here in my part of Melbourne. My favourite kind of weather. Yesterday was warm. So warm in fact that my kids and their friends had a water fight. (Lily's favourite kind of weather. We think it would be really nice if we could have one grey day, then one warm day, and so on. Then we would both be happy about the weather all the time.) Ok. So it actually wasn't that warm. Let's just say it was warm enough for kids to have a water fight. But that warm air did have an effect on me. It made me realise that it really is getting close to Christmas! Living in Australia warm and hot weather just scream Christmas to me. So today I am working on bunting. In one of my favourite colour combos!

I finished something!

Just incase you thought this week was going to come to an end without any crafting happening at all, this post allays your fears. Some time ago I showed you this scarf I was knitting. Well, this week I finished it. But it is a scarf no longer!

It's still sort of a scarf. A scarf and a hood all rolled into one. I'm sure there is a name for one of these but I don't live anywhere cold enough to know the name!

This scarf/hoody thing is for Miss 21 who is overseas in the snow as we speak. But I got Miss 10 to model the scarf for you. She thought it was a huge joke. Modelling a warm hat in summer!
I also made bunting. Bunting is one of my most favourite things ever, despite the fact that I have never owned any! I don't know if you noticed or not, but our stall at Art at the Hart had bunting. That's because Mrs 23 made some for markets. I'm not sure why bunting appeals to me so much. I think it has something to do with tv. Every great tv show has bunting. Like "As Time Goes By" when they throw the Christmas party for the old folks, like "Ever Decreasing Circles" when they are setting up for the Vicars and Tarts dance, and like just about every "Darling Buds of May" episode! Maybe I just love it because it's so British and it's sooooooo happy.

I have been collecting inspirational bunting photos from all over the net. But it wasn't until I saw Tiel's bunting (OK. I think it was Tiel. It was a while ago.) that I thought I could actually make some. She made some small bunting that was "pinked" around the edges and I thought, "I could do that!". So I did. I made some for a friend, but made so many triangles I ended up making some for me too! I love it when I accidentally get something like that.
Sorry for the marathon post. I just had so many photos! My camera wasn't working for a while, and now it is so I am taking it everywhere and snap, snap, snapping! (Gosh I missed it!)
