Little Birds (make me happy)

I am still sorting through my sewing room. I emptied the last box today. I am getting pretty excited about the room and about all the projects I have started and can start! I came across this book today. It was gifted to me by the lovely Loz when I visited her in July. (I had the best time hanging out with her! She is one of my favourite people. That's the only downer about our move to Melbourne. I see some of my favourite people less now.) I love that she knew just how much I would love this book. I still claim to all and sundry that I am actually not that crazy for birds, but I must be because this book is just divine. Full of inspiration! Check out some of my favourite pages...

Love this sweetie and her shopping

A journal cover (love journal covers!). Absolutely love this applique.

Love, love, love this guy. Love also the gone over a lot lines. That's my kind of quilting!

I'm not that into the current owl craze (yeah, denial again lol) but who wouldn't love these guys? Owls with attitude!
So, will there be some birds featuring soon on my blog? Probably not (yeah, denial!) but will I be reading this book over and over? Yep. It makes me feel so happy! Hope it made you feel happy too!

Making at my house.

This little bird meets his maker. My son, Mr 17. He crafted this little guy for his nephew and the bird is winging his way to Adelaide as we speak to be cuddled by said nephew, hopefully sometime tomorrow. I have been sewing and sewing the past few days, but have no photos to show. I am covered in fluff and thread though and have been having a great time. Back tomorrow with photos! (Oh. And an iPhone update.)

Adventures in the waterlily house!

It was a warm and sunny day today when we went to the Botanical Gardens to stitch. I really love stitching there. Such beautiful surroundings!

We wandered around a little too. The doors of the waterlily house were open and when we got inside we saw this bird. I want to say "heron", but I have no idea what kind of bird it is really.

The bird was really enjoying the waterlily pads and didn't seem bothered by all the onlookers that had gathered.

It was only after watching the bird for a while that I realised that the bird was watching too! Watching the little fish that populate the waterlily pond.

It went from side to side catching a little fish in it's beak at each side. I think the fish would be scared when the bird caught a fish, but then it would walk over to the other side of the lilypad and they would all emit a sigh of relief and get close to the lilypad again ready for the return of the bird!

The bird played that game for a while until either it or the fish got sick of it and moved. It hop, skipped, and jumped to another lilypad.

And started the game again! (This is the closest I got to capturing the bird with a fish in it's beak. It happened many times, but let's just say that if I was a bird I would be a very skinny bird. A very hungry, skinny bird because my reflexes are not that good!)
