Flowers

Today we went for a drive and had lunch in a park. There were lots of flowers in the park, but these blue ones caught my eye. (Not sure what kind of flowers they are. Does anyone know?) Seems I wasn't alone in that, they were covered in bees. Aren't bees amazing?

They are gorgeous aren't they, they are actually 'Pride of Madeira' (Echium candicans or Echium fastuosum). Great colours and very regal, love the bee shot too...

They are beautiful. I really need to get some flowers happening here.

That's a great closeup of the wildlife! When I try to take those shots everything gets blurry and out of focus.

I love Bees, but I am allergic to them. I love watching them, I'm not afraid of them, so I would love to learn to keep beeskeps. It would be so much fun!

Love your blog.

I'm pleased Lizzie knew what the plant is. I haven't come across one before. I must confess to liking the flowerheads more when in close up. Amazing, and so are bees! x

Hi Kris, I have had and killed two "Pride of Madeiras". I knew them as Echium. They are easy to grow, just DONT prune them. The first, my husband hard pruned, the second one I just cut the old flower heads off and it died. They are magnificent when in full flower. Love your close up photo of the bee on flower. Regards Dianne.
