Swing Swong

This is grandson on holidays at the beach. He loves playgrounds and he loves to swing. I misappropriated this photo from my daughter's facebook because grandson just looks so happy! Some of the comments her friends made about this photo got me thinking. I never was much of a kid for playgrounds (weird, huh?). However, I did love to swing. When I was really young I remember swinging and singing. Same thing happens when I go bike riding. I don't mean to sing, it just happens, because when I'm happy I have to sing. My swing song from an early age was "swing, swong, swing, swong, swing....." well, you get the picture! I remember that I loved to swing because my imaginary friends also loved to swing and we would all sing the song and talk together too whilst on the swings. (Even more weird! In fact I would get upset if anyone else got on the (empty) swing) Did you have imaginary friends? I had two. Dingdong and Gandal. I had them from a very young age hence the seriously weird names (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). I guess it is kind of weird to have imaginary friends and they certainly never seemed imaginary to me. They were part of the family. They went everywhere with us! Okay, embarassing admission number 58,000! What is it about this blog that makes me admit such weird things? Back to your regularly scheduled blog now.

Does one good to bare the soul :0).
No imaginary friends, but I did have birdie school and rounded up all the 'birds' by running around the garden singing (shouting) the Woody Wood Pecker song. Mum even used to pack my lunch, lol.

Your grandson is gorgeous.

That is such a great photo - he is so cute. No imaginary friends, but I did sing John Denver songs at the top of my lungs while swinging. Child of the 70's :O) Oh, and the summer I was 6 I loved to ride my bike in my bikini and white pleather(? - whatever that icky stuff was - some kind of plastic fake leather that zipped up the side and laced up the front) go-go boots - wish I had a photo of that!

wow...that is one happy face....and why not...swinging is awesome....Oh...I think I missed out on the imaginary friends...they probably couldn't get a word in so didn't bother with me..LOL.....my fave place to swing was at the beach when we spent summers with our Grandma....funny old rusty swings with wooden seats which would probably be condemmed as unsafe in this day and age.....!

Hi Kris

Oh, he is just gorgeous! Who doesn't love to swing!
Kirby had imaginary friends - David, Sonya Dada & Magic. They tagged along for quite a few months until Brianna was born. I even caught her playing 'pat-a-cake' with David, sitting on our bed (doing the actions). And Angus had a favourite called Miss Kitty until his younger sister came along. Must be something about 'first' children. Lol!

Cheers - Joolz

I used to sing that song too and I humm a tune as I ride my bike and occassionally belt out a few lyrics. Shame the swing seats don't allow for my ever expanding butt otherwise I'd be swinging along today!

I can't ever remember having imaginary friends, but did have alternative words for things, such as rattentrot for battenburg cake and sympathetic cream, instead of synthetic! Your grandson is so bonny, such a dear little chap! x

Growing up in Moonta Bay my childhood love was jumping of the jetty. If I thought no one would see me I would jump off the bridge over the lake. Now that would be a sight. No imaginary friends here.
