Knife Day

Today was designated by Miss 18 as "Knife Day". Yes, she finally had her tonsillectomy. She is such a trooper. The last few weeks her speech has been even more affected by her tonsils as they just kept on getting bigger. (Hard to believe I know, cause they were humongous before!) Everyone was mocking her speech and she became very upset about it. People who didn't know her thought she was deaf after listening to her speak. Those tonsils were just silencing her speech and sounds. This is her on the walk to admissions this morning.

She had her tonsils removed this afternoon. The doctor said everyone was very impressed with them. Miss 18 was very sore afterwards. She didn't want to be touched at all, except by Miss 16. They are very close and it was just lovely to watch Miss 16 care for her sister. She helped her drink, massaged her hand and feet, and interpreted her croaky, sleepy phrases for those around her. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that my tiny little girls (they were always the little girls, because we had big girls too!) are so grown up. So grown up and such great people. If I just met them I would want to be friends with them. Miss 18 will spend tonight in hospital and if all goes well will be home tomorrow. Can't wait.

Oh I'm glad that's over for her! It just sounds so awful. I hope she is feeling better very soon. And hugs to you - I know how hard that was for you too.

Tonsil can be such a pain, no pun intended. Glad to see they are no longer with her, here's to a speedy recovery.

I hope she's feeling better soon.

(Very interesting about the speech thing. One of Sawyer's health concerns is his very enlarged tonsils, among a few other things. The specialist wants to figure out what's causing all of this before removing them. Now I'm thinking if they will affect his speech, they need to go.)

She will be a new girl now. Sadly gone are the days of ice-cream and jelly as it is perfect weather for them.

I had wondered if she was soon going to have them done. What a relief it has happened.

What a lovely relationship they both have - it made me go all soft and gooy.

MAke sure she keeps up the pain relief and icecream (wink)

Hi Kris,
Glad to hear that all went well with Miss 18. When I saw the title "Knife day" I did wonder if it was going to be about knife sharpening. Miss 18 will feel so much better when everything has healed up. Wish her a quick recovery from me
take care

My son is booked in to have his out at the end of the month. I am sure he will not be as stoic as Miss 18 though he is only 8 but such a drama queen.

Hi Kris

Glad the op went well for Miss18. It must be a big relief for everyone.

My two girls will miss each other terribly when K18 goes to Uni. There is 3 years between them but they are great buds. Poor B15 will be stuck with the 'olds'. Ah well, I am sure we will visit every now and again.

Hoep you're in the cool

Cheers - Joolz

I am anxious to hear how long it takes her to recover. I have a student who has been absent for almost FOUR WEEKS after a tonsillectomy. (I have seen him about town and there seems to be nothing wrong with him - but he starts hurting really badly when he comes to school. LOL)
