We're here.

We started moving in to our new house one week ago. Last Friday. Are we settled yet? No, not really. We are lucky enough to have a double garage here which is currently full of unopened boxes, so we're not living in a cardboard jungle at least! On Saturday night I opened the front door and this is what I saw. (Tilt your computer on the side to make any sense of this photo. Google seems to think it should be this way up and I can't convince it otherwise!) I uploaded this photo especially for my friend Sue. She is autumn crazy and this is just to make her jealous. I have autumn on my doorstep Sue!

I don't have a separate sewing room at the new house. I have appropriated the casual dining area as my own which means that I am set up opposite the kitchen. Hopefully this will mean fewer burnt dinners! (I tend to get engrossed in the sewing room and forget dinner! Do you do that?) This is my new room this afternoon. Still unpacking, but the required shelves, desk and ironing board are in place!

You know "reality tv"? (Which isn't actually real at all. How many times have you lived in a house with a bunch of strangers and no contact with the outside world? Never? Thought so, and yet that is the premiss of "Big Brother" one of the originals of reality tv.) Well this is "reality blogging"! I kept wanting to wait until my sewing room was perfect to photograph it and show you, but I worked out that if I wait until then I may never blog again! So, I'm back. Still unpacking. Still organising. And now I'm blogging again too.

Hi Kris

Congratulations on the new house. Moving is the pits, but after a few weeks it will all be a distant memory. Such an exciting time. How do all the kids like their new rooms?

I am so jealous - your own sewing space! That is just a wild dream for me, and will be for quite a while.

welcome back!....that sewing area looks pretty good to me.....and it is neat....good that you can store the boxes in the garage for now...it gives the illusion that you are all moved in...I will be moving out of the bedroom this weekend and into the study....this will leave the bedroom to the tradesmen to work their magic and transform it with new cornice and ceiling rose, paint and floorboards finished.........should be able to move back in in a few weeks..LOL...living in chaos while the renos are done...and the washing machine packed it in...LOL...gotta love the timing!

That is quick, you hardly knew about the house and now you live there! Your sewing room looks lovely, it is nice to be around while sewing. Mine is in the attic and I dream about a sewing room downstairs...

Glad to see you are settling into your new home.
I know what you mean about burning dinner when you are sewing, we also get soggy pasta and veggies!

Another couple of weeks or so and you will have all the boxes sorted out. I like your sewing area, is that an Expedit bookcase from Ikea? Somedays I wish my husband could cook, I don't like having to stop sewing to make a meal, after all who needs food when you can sew.

Glad to hear you have made the move...I've only just caught up on the exciting new house news!
And good to hear you have found a spot for your sewing - I'm often running back and forth from the detached rumpus room to check up on what is happening inside. Your set up sound very practical.

I sail close to the wind with our meals when blogging! I hope you are now more settled in your new home. Really handy to have a temporary storage space in the garage while you unpack. Saves keep tripping over all those boxes! x
